The society has set itself the task of restoring and preserving the New National Gallery's sculpture court. This sculpture court, or garden, is in an extremely poor condition and urgently requires our help. Floor slabs, walls, and stone benches have to be thoroughly restored. Dead trees must be replaced, overgrown bushes and ground cover plants need to be replanted. The sculptures must be secured at their foundations. The garden area requires reorganization in keeping with its original concept. To ensure maintenance of the garden after restoration has been completed, the ongoing services of professionals will be required.
The German Federal Building Authority is not in a position to provide for the maintenance of the New National Gallery on its own. In an attempt to help out, we have founded the "Mies van der Rohe Skulpturengarten e.V."
A society which seeks to elicit the interest of friends of urban culture, - a culture which conveys the atmosphere of a successful fusion of architecture, gardens and sculptures.
The society hopes to receive help in the form of donations and/or membership.
